Paraplegic, blind, and never put down: a forever home for India’s special-needs dogs.
An accident, illness, or untreated injury can change a dog’s life in seconds. Spinal injuries, blindness, amputation, chronic illness, and age can make everyday survival difficult. For many special-needs dogs, the biggest challenge begins after the immediate emergency is over.
A paralyzed dog can still explore. A blind dog can recognize a familiar voice. A dog with an amputated leg can still play and seek affection. These dogs continue to experience curiosity, companionship, and joy. They simply need care adapted to their individual needs.
Some dogs need custom mobility carts, rehabilitation, or hydrotherapy. Others need assistance with bladder management, wound care, hygiene, or movement. Dogs with chronic conditions may require medication, specialized nutrition, and regular veterinary monitoring.
Recovery does not always mean walking again. It can mean learning to move with a wheelchair, managing pain, preventing complications, or simply living comfortably.
Some special-needs dogs cannot safely return to the streets or find conventional homes. They may need long-term medical attention, daily assistance, and a protected environment.
With treatment, patience, rehabilitation, and consistent care, their future can change.
Some may walk again. Some may run on wheels. Some may never walk.
Their abilities may be different, but their right to live with dignity is not.

Paraplegic dogs suffer from friction burns and muscle atrophy without proper equipment. VOSD builds and fits custom-measured two-wheel and four-wheel carts, allowing dogs with spinal fractures to run across 7+ acres safely.
Our custom-designed canine swimming and hydrotherapy facilities allow paralyzed dogs to build core strength without joint impact, preventing stiffness and improving digestive health.
We don't believe in putting down an animal simply because it can't walk or see. Rescues live in structured pack enclosures with dedicated handlers who perform bladder expression, wound care, and bedding changes daily.

To protect 1,700+ trauma survivors, territorial packs, and aggressive rescues from agitation, VOSD is a strictly closed-door sanctuary. However, we share regular video and photo updates from our special-needs wards across our channels.
Yes. All Indian donations are 50% tax-exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. We email a downloadable tax receipt immediately after payment. International donations receive official tax-deductible documentation where applicable via our partner gateways.
Our on-site veterinary hospital is operational 24/7. Rescues receive intensive ICU monitoring, palliative care, and pain management. We preserve life with dignity and never euthanize for space or convenience.
