Two community dog feeders in Whitefield, Bengaluru, were caring for a stray dog named Doda. A previous accident had left him with only three limbs. Unfortunately, in October 2021, he met with yet another grave road accident. His only foreleg and one of his hind legs were badly injured. The kind women immediately sent him to a veterinary hospital in the locality, where he received treatment for many weeks.
Upon his recovery though, the doctor ascertained that it would be difficult for Doda to continue surviving on the streets due to his severely damaged limbs. Since his caregivers wanted the sweet dog to have a safe haven for the rest of his life, they requested VOSD to admit him. We were so touched by this case, and the sheer resilience that Doda has displayed to survive all odds – hence, we accepted him without surrender fees.
His story represents everything we stand for, namely giving dogs who don’t have the hope of surviving on the streets a second chance at a healthy and happy life. Doda is a spirited, brave and tough dog, who has proved time and again that no obstacle can hold him down… quite literally! Despite a badly damaged limb, he walks, hops about, and even jumps on our caregivers & para vets for his daily dose of love. He’s probably the happiest dog we’ve ever seen with just two fully functional limbs!
Doda is a precious baby who will spend the rest of his life at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital, receiving the best of medical care and lots of love. We’re probably going to pamper him silly with his favourite treats and endless belly rubs, but he deserves every bit of it, and more!
