The owner of a driving school in Bengaluru had a pet dog who was kept chained 24×7 – he was only “useful” to his master because he would bark and keep miscreants away. The three-year-old dog unfortunately suffered cruelty on many levels such as:
• Malnutrition and starvation which led to bowed forelimbs and poor body condition
• An infection in his testicles that was left untreated
• He was forced to sleep on the ground during monsoon and winter without a blanket or bedding
A kind woman who was keen on rescuing the dog and giving him a better life mentioned in an email to VOSD that, “I tried speaking to the owner to provide proper care but he is adamant and didn’t listen. The dog is in a very painful and critical condition.”
VOSD doesn’t provide emergency rescue services, so we requested her to make arrangements to rescue and secure the dog before he could be surrendered to us. With the help of a local NGO and animal welfare authorities, poor Tim Tim was finally taken away from his cruel owner. After a thorough health check-up, he was transported to the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital – his permanent home where he sensed freedom and love for the first time!
Tim Tim is a gentle and loving soul who enjoys the company of dogs and people alike. He has been started on a high protein diet to help him gain weight in addition to calcium, multivitamin, and joint supplements to manage his bowed limbs. To ensure he gets sufficient exercise the sweet dog has been left free to run around in the open areas of the sanctuary. And gone are the days when he had to sleep on the bare cold ground – he now has a cosy tyre bed all to himself so he can curl up for a comfortable and cosy snooze.
Cruelty survivor dogs like Tim Tim are admitted from across India into the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital without a surrender fee. Support us in caring for such abused and neglected pooches by donating INR 5,000 (~$62) one-time or monthly for their food and medical expenses: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/
