Dog haters threatened to kill friendly stray dogs

NEW DOGS AT VOSD: SENIOR DOGS CHASED AWAY & NEARLY KILLED FIND ACCEPTANCE AT VOSD

Julie and Ramu are 14 and 13 years old respectively. They spent nearly all of their lives in a residential colony in Bengaluru. One day suddenly, the intolerant humans concluded that the dogs were ‘unsanitary’ and a threat to children so they relocated the elderly pooches to a different locality – this is ILLEGAL as per animal welfare laws. Luckily they were found by a kind rescuer and brought back to their street. However, the dog haters in the colony were much more determined to get rid of the dogs and planned to kill them. Worried for their safety, the rescuer requested if VOSD could admit them. We accepted Ramu and Julie under the VOSD Hospice category without a surrender fee.

The beautiful and cheerful dogs have added a zing to our facility. The minute they walked in we fell in love with them as did they with our sanctuary! While Ramu ran all over the place, Julie like the goofy girl she is, lay on the floor and began demanding belly rubs. The old dogs are so full of youthful spark it’s uncanny and wonderful at the same time. Thankfully, they are in very good health and to support their care they have been started on joint & digestive supplements and a high protein diet.

“It’s such a pleasure having them around. If I’m having a bad day I walk up to a stone slab and sit; they immediately come running up to me for cuddles and it cheers me up in an instant,” said Arpitha Rao, Veterinary Practice Manager, VOSD. Julie and Ramu have finally found a place they can call their own, and we thank God every day for bringing such joyful dogs into our lives. We are all very happy together and the two pooches will be cared for till their last breath.

Home is very important to dogs and humans alike. To snatch that security away from an old dog is a crime. We are glad that Julie and Ramu are safe with us at VOSD but thousands of senior stray dogs out there are dumped at places far away from their homes where they die tragically. To help us save these pooches, please consider donating INR 5,000 (~$61) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/
