VOSD Founder Rakesh Shukla was attending a pet products exhibition to buy supplies for the dogs at VOSD. In the same place, there were breeders selling exotic breed dogs to people looking to bring home a fancy breed dog. It was the closing hour on the last day of the exhibition when Rakesh spotted a breeder trying to sell two Mudhol Hound pups under a tree.
The puppies were malnourished, dehydrated, and had a skin infection. In fact, one of them seemed to be in a critical condition. At once he knew that puppies needed to be in a far more loving and caring place. Without thinking twice, Rakesh brought the two puppies home and named them Namak and Kala Namak.
With appropriate medication, diet, love, and care, both the puppies grew up to be such handsome and the naughtiest dogs at VOSD. They are always running around, coming up with one mischief or the other. We are reminded of Fred and George Weasley from Harry Potter looking at them!
Sadly, Namak suffers from a congenital disease called osteomyelitis – a bacterial/fungal infection which causes inflammation of the bone. Last year, he fell critically ill due to it and was on the verge of death. We were relentless in providing him with the best medical care possible and in a few weeks, the gorgeous boy bounced back in style and started pulling off his tricks again!
Seeing these two babies, who possibly would have suffered to death in horrible conditions, grow up to be such active and happy dogs is a sight to behold! This is what VOSD stands for – hope. There are many many more dogs like the Namak brothers at VOSD who have been taken out of their misery and have gotten a second chance at life! Please donate INR 5,000 (~$66) today to care for such dogs: www.vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/
