Goodbye, Big Red.. This dog’s life will astonish you!

GOODBYE, BIG RED! NEVER FORGOTTEN, ALWAYS LOVED

A differentiating factor that sets the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital apart from other dog shelters is that we do not focus on just the survival of rescued dogs, but ensure an excellent quality of life and top-notch medical care. No expense is spared when it comes to providing our wards the best accommodation, nutrition, medical aid, and individual attention.

This distinguished, intensive upkeep is what helped Big Red – a 15-year-old stray dog – live the best few years of his life at VOSD during his old age. He was admitted to us after suffering a painful wound, and since he was partially blind & deaf. See his story here: https://bit.ly/3NkHhLb.

As is the case with every elderly infirm dog residing with us, we charted out a detailed treatment plan for Big Red upon his arrival. A file was created for him including his history, diagnosis of his current condition, blood test reports, ongoing medication etc. which helped us keep track of his progress. It was also based on these frequent check-ups that we noticed his kidneys had begun deteriorating. He was put on oral and intravenous treatment for the last couple of months, however, his condition wasn’t improving given he had crossed 15 years of age. Big Red unfortunately breathed his last in his caregivers’ arms, knowing he was dearly loved – something he probably never got to experience on the streets.

Please give a small gift today to help us provide the very best care possible for dogs like Big Red who are admitted to the VOSD Hospice without any surrender fees. A one-time or monthly contribution of INR 5,000 (~$65) can make a big difference in the lives of old stray dogs whom we hope to bring to the safety of our sanctuary: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
