Preeta, an ardent dog lover, grew up in a conservative home which didn’t encourage raising a pet dog. Yet, she didn’t let that diminish her love for pooches, so she would play with the streeties in her locality. This helped her relate to their resilience to survive and she was in awe of their ability to shower kindness in the face of hatred.
The turning point came in August 2021 when she was browsing through social media and she came across a sweet little puppy who was looking for a forever home. “He had beautiful big eyes oozing with compassion,” she recalls. The couldn’t help bring him home, and named him Cheeni which seemed apt for his ‘sweet as sugar’ personality!
The first three months seemed like too much because of the myriad responsibilities that come with raising a dog. But Cheeni and Preeta decided to make it work come good, bad or ugly. Since then, the duo has managed to shoot a phone album full of cute photos! “We are learning to live and enjoy our lives with each other. He is kind and randy in equal measures, and I am learning lessons in patience and love,” says Preeta.
Cheeni will be celebrating his first birthday this month, for which he is being gifted a holiday with his family! We wish him tonnes of happiness, and hope he gets to make beautiful memories!
