Paralyzed dog undergoes beautiful transformation

MEET A VOSD DOG: ONCE COMPLETELY PARALYSED, BHOLA IS NOW AN ACTIVE DOG!

The determination with which Bhola runs towards food is admirable… he has a pronounced wobble and extremely weak hind legs but that doesn’t stop him from being a total foodie! But what he doesn’t know is that hidden within his treats are his daily joint supplements. Quite the way to trick dogs into eating their tablets, right?

Bhola is a special needs dog who was surrendered to VOSD in 2021. His journey began on the streets of Pune, where he was lying completely paralysed and helpless. Read his story here: https://bit.ly/3ChxT7r.

When he was brought to our sanctuary, he got a special home to live in along with his other canine companions who also suffered from full or partial paralysis. Their ward was fitted with artificial grass carpets that are anti-skid, and help soak up the excess urine or moisture helping the dogs stay dry. He was started on physiotherapy and infrared therapy to help him regain movement and balance in his hind legs, and was started on the VOSD Joint Care Supplement which he will continue to be on lifelong.

The combination of medication, therapy and appropriate living conditions helped Bhola get back up on his feet. We slowly began taking him for walks around the sanctuary so he could get to exercise in a controlled environment. The exposure and socialising helped him discover that he loved playing with dogs and people alike. Since he need not live on an artificial grass mat anymore, we’ve shifted him to a more suitable enclosure along with his best friend Sweety (who suffers from the same hind leg issue as him).

Admitting a special dog isn’t enough; ensuring they are given the right care LIFELONG is vital. VOSD has years of experience in designing rehabilitation programs for dogs like Bhola, hence, they’re able to enjoy a normal and healthy life just like any other dog. To help us care for partially/fully paralysed dogs, please donate INR 5,000 (~$68) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
