There are many dog rescuers across India who save the lives of stray dogs who suffer immensely on the streets. These kind souls usually pay from their pockets to get treatment for sick stray dogs, get their sterilisation surgeries done and also feed them at least once a day or as they can afford. Sometimes they come across stray dogs or abandoned pet dogs who are paralysed or have behavioral issues that make it impossible for those dogs to get adopted.
Dog shelters across the country are overloaded and cannot handle such dogs. VOSD is always open to admitting such dogs. The care and rehabilitation of such dogs is very expensive so we do request the rescuers to pay a one time surrender fees of INR 20,000 that is about INR 1600 per month for the year. This amount helps us cover the medical and rehabilitation costs for the dog as soon as it reaches our Sanctuary. We have 5 free surrender categories and 5 paid. Even then almost 80% of dogs in the paid category also get a waiver and come in as free category surrender. Our system works for the dogs and we ensure that the neediest of the dogs are able to find a forever home with us!
Many times we come across rescuers who cannot afford the VOSD one time surrender fees so we waive it off after proper background checks and gathering information about the rescuer. Unfortunately we can’t waive off the fees all the time. We too have massive financial pressures to handle.
We are happy to take care of special needs dogs for life and are home to over 800+ special needs dogs. But their medical care and rehabilitation takes months and the costs for us never go down. So we are asking all of you to come help us help the dogs.

HOW IT WORKS:
– A Pay It Forward e-Card will go to the rescuer saying someone has reached out to help them get their rescued dog to the safety of the VOSD Sanctuary and Hospital by paying the one time INR 20,000 fees
– Donor name and details will not be revealed to the rescuer and vice versa.
– Donor will receive one exclusive video, photos of the dog … that they sponsored once the dog reaches VOSD and settles down with our team.
– VOSD will make final decision of matching donor funds to dogs awaiting surrender. All dogs admitted at VOSD come through a strict legal surrender process and VOSD reserves the right to accept or reject any surrender requests.
