NEW DOG AT VOSD: OLD PET DOG LEFT ON THE STREETS TO DIE FINDS NEW HOPE WITH US

When pet dogs are abandoned on the streets, apart from emotional trauma they also get grievously injured in fights and/or contract deadly diseases. A similar fate awaited Buddy, an elderly mixed Indian breed dog, who was left to fend for himself on the streets after his family discarded him. The old dog was found roaming, looking lost and injured from altercations with other stray dogs. The rescuer noticed that his collar and a chain were still intact.

Buddy was evidently not used to the harsh life on the roads and was struggling immensely. In due course, he also suffered a severe tick infestation and developed a fever. The rescuer got him treated but she was certain that the pooch who once lived as a pet couldn’t be left back on the streets. She approached VOSD and Buddy came to us under the Hospice category.

The beautiful brindle dog deserved to have a happy home and he has got it with us! Buddy loves it here; he interacts with our other doggie residents and caregivers, explores the grounds, and engages in play regularly. The once skeletal guy is now back to his burly, muscular self. He will continue to get regular medical check-ups given his advanced age. Buddy is finally at a place that will cure him of his abandonment trauma.

Hundreds of abandoned pet dogs unable to cope with life on the streets find comfort and shelter at VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital. To help them lead healthy and happy lives of dignity, please donate INR 5,000 (~$63) one-time or monthly for their food & medical expenses: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/
