The VOSD Pune team have rescued 20 senior & special needs dogs from across the city. Since VOSD does not have a facility at Pune, these dogs are kept in a private boarding for their lifelong care. Some of them are old or special-needs stray dogs and some others are abandoned pet dogs. The dogs have faced serious health issues, cruelty or neglect and VOSD has made it a priority to give them a life filled with love and dignity.
These dogs have come to us so ill or so emotionally damaged that rehoming them is not in the dog’s best interests and also finding homes for them is next to impossible as they are all mixed Indian breed dogs. They will stay with us for the rest of their lives. We are grateful to all our donors who are sponsoring the monthly boarding fees for these dogs.
All dogs are availing treatment for their respective medical issues that include advanced arthritis, kidney diseases and coronary heart disease. These conditions are extremely debilitating and require specialised and sustained medical support. Some of our dogs need regular drips, others are on prescribed medical diet or life long critical care medicines with supplements. The medical care and boarding expenses are very high as you can imagine.
