Eva, a senior stray dog, was so weak and frail that a kind rescuer had to admit her to a trauma centre, along with her equally emaciated sibling. While Eva’s health improved, her sibling sadly passed away. The doctors unanimously agreed that Eva couldn’t be released back to the streets now that her sibling was no more; also because of her age and health. So, the rescuer surrendered her to VOSD Hospice which provides geriatric care for infirm stray dogs.
Eva was heartbreakingly skeletal when she first arrived at VOSD. She was so weak that she couldn’t even climb onto the stone platforms inside our kennels. To help her gain weight, our team immediately put her on a high-protein, nutritious diet along with liver supplements and digestive enzymes. To enhance her joint and bone health, we started Eva on the VOSD Joint Supplement (shop.vosd.in) and calcium supplements.
After a few weeks of sustained care, Eva is now able to walk much more freely; she moves about inside the hospital and also mingles with other dogs. She is also comfortable around people and cooperates with all the medical interventions she requires to stay fit. To shield her from the winter chill, we have given Eva a winter jacket. At night, along with other senior dogs, she sleeps inside a room which has a heating system thereby keeping the dogs warm. From a miserable life on the streets, old girl Eva will now get all the care and comfort she needs till the end of her time.
Hundreds of old, infirm stray dogs come to VOSD Hospice for end-of-life care. We are eager to help more such pooches live with dignity in their twilight years. Please consider giving them a gift of INR 5,000 (~$61) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/
