Senior Boxer Dog SAVED just in time from death by VOSD.

NEW DOG AT VOSD: ELDERLY PET BOXER CHAINED & ABUSED ALL HIS LIFE FINALLY FREE AND LOVED AT VOSD!

The video of an elderly pet Boxer with the saddest expression ever made its way to the VOSD Helpdesk via email. It was an urgent plea to rescue and provide a permanent home for ‘Bruno’ who was on the verge of being euthanised because his owner didn’t want him any longer.

For nearly 10 years, the poor dog was kept tied to the same spot all day to “guard” the building; he wasn’t taken out on walks or socialised. What’s worse is he would have seizures occasionally but was left untreated. One fine morning Bruno’s owner decided he didn’t want the dog any more so he was on his way to a kill shelter to put him down. In the nick of time the VOSD team coordinated with the kind lady who wrote to us wanting to rescue him:
• The rescuer was instructed to procure a letter from the owner giving her complete responsibility for the dog
• Bruno was immediately taken away from him and admitted to a vet hospital for a check up
• After getting a prescription for various health issues, he was picked up by the VOD team and brought to the sanctuary

As Boxers advance in age their tendency to develop bone & joint issues increases. In Bruno’s case especially since he was chained all his life he has severe arthritis and weak hind limbs. To improve his condition, he was put on the VOSD Joint Care Supplement along with calcium supplements and a high protein diet. His caregiver takes him for walks and short runs as well every day so he can stretch his legs. Additionally, to prevent seizures he was started on medication for epilepsy.

For the first time in his life Bruno is experiencing freedom and love at VOSD. He is also getting the right medical care he needs to lead a healthy and happy life. The sweet boy is one of hundreds of such pet dogs who were rescued from abusive owners who neglected them – they have all found a permanent home under our care.
