Madhu has known Sleepy, a stray dog, for almost 10 years now. She would always be found sleeping in front of their apartment gate – and that’s how she got her supercute name!
Eventually she moved into the apartment basement as a pack of dogs down the road would attack her. Gladly, no one in the building minded her presence.
Unfortunately, in the first week of December 2021, Madhu found Sleepy in terrible condition where she couldn’t walk. A vet visit confirmed that she had a hip fracture, age related issues, nerve damage and fusing of her spinal bones. After a week in the hospital, Sleepy was brought back. Madhu made a shelter for her and would check on her, feed her, give her medicines, and change her pee pads.
On 25th December 2021, she and her elder son decided to bring Sleepy home. And they did. Sleepy settled down easily and has been living a comfortable life since. Her condition is improving slowly, and hopefully Sleepy will start to walk again!
Madhu and her family are an inspiration for all dog lovers. Not only did they open their heart but also their home for a stray dog who needed as much care as possible during a difficult time. We wish you all the happiness in the world!
