VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog, Vikram, was run over by a car near the temple where he lived. The accident caused a massive injury to his jaw; because of the consequent intense pain, Vikram was not able to eat or drink anything.
He stayed in that painful, neglected state for more than five days. A devotee, who was visiting the temple, noticed Vikram’s plight and informed us. We rushed to Pabe Ghat, which is 85 km away from Pune, and rescued Vikram. He was admitted to Animal Rescue Trust NGO, Pune, the same night at 11 pm. Unfortunately, Vikram passed away the next morning even before the doctors could see him.
Doctors informed us that a pus-filled wound had formed inside Vikram’s mouth, all his bottom teeth broke, and the poor dog was also severely dehydrated. The cumulative effect of all these maladies led to Vikram’s demise.
Let us pray for Vikram’s departed soul and pledge to raise awareness on the importance of safe driving.
To support our rescue operations and help more stray dogs, please donate today. Every dog deserves access to optimal medical care and a nutritious meal; your contribution will go a long way in ensuring both: https://vosd.in/pune-rescues/
