VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog, Rani, got into a ghastly accident at Pune railway station. The poor dog got run over by a moving train; her hind legs were severely damaged, and Rani was bleeding non-stop. A kind passerby sent us a WhatsApp message with her exact location and platform number; within the next hour-and-a-half, our team reached the station and rescued Rani.
Rani was admitted to Animal Rescue trust (ART) NGO, Pune, where doctors gave Rani preliminary treatment immediately. She was put on relevant medication and has been receiving fluids intravenously.
Since one of Rani’s hind legs is completely damaged, the doctors have decided to amputate it. Luckily, the injuries on her other leg are not too serious and will heal in time. Rani will stay at ART till she is healed completely.
Rani went through a hellish experience and sadly a whole lot of stray dogs meet a similar fate near railway stations. Help us bring succour to more dogs like Rani.
