The year 2022 was an interesting one for VOSD; early on we had to rebuild our set-up which was ravaged by floods the preceding year. We came across multiple challenges all year, but we were able to successfully surmount all of them; and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our loyal and generous donors. We are extremely grateful for your continued patronage.
We want the year 2023 to be the year of great expansion for VOSD. We are working towards doubling our capacity from 1400 + dogs to 2000+ dogs. The construction work is already underway; soon we will be able to provide a home to more vulnerable dogs across India.
Meanwhile, our VOSD mobile clinic is reaching out to different parts of Bangalore providing treatment, medicines and vaccines at no cost to stray and adopted Indian breed pet dogs. And we plan to start our sterilisation program very soon with the aim to provide high-quality services at no cost.
VOSD has joined hands with Sinhagad Animal Welfare (SAW) Charitable Trust in Pune. A team, consisting of experts and two ambulances, has been put in place to rescue and rehabilitate critically injured stray dogs across the city of Pune. We have plans to forge similar alliances with other animal NGOs in various cities as we think there is an urgent need to bolster dog-welfare initiatives across India.
2022 was also, in many ways, extremely rough for India’s strays. We came across stories of unthinkable cruelty towards stray dogs and thoughtless lobbying for culling of stray dogs in many states. Given the grim state of affairs, we ardently pray that the Indian parliament passes the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill, 2022; as it sanctions much harsher penalties for any acts of cruelty against animals.
VOSD has been working tirelessly to improve the lot of Indian dogs and we are happy to inform that we have been largely successful in our endeavours; it goes without saying that we needed your support all along the way. So, we thank you again dear friends for walking down this road with us.
