On a bright sunny morning, four curious and happy dogs reached the gates of the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital to begin a new chapter of their lives – one filled with happiness and love. These four babies were rescued by some very kind humans and treated by our partner NGO Karma Foundation in Pune. Following months of rehab and medical care, they were surrendered to us.
Jordan: This middle-aged German Shephard was found lying in a gutter by some young girls. He suffered grave injuries to his penis, testicles, head, and ears, which were infested with maggots. He also suffered a trauma to his hind leg which resulted in a fracture of his femur head for which he had to undergo surgery. When he was rescued he was a mere bag of bones, and comatose. Now, this 37-kg beast is actually just a big baby, who will be pampered silly at VOSD!
Babe: This minuscule pup was found by a young school girl lying lifeless on the road. At first, she thought the baby was dead but when she saw shallow breaths, she wanted to give her a second chance. Babe reached Karma Foundation in a state of complete coma, barely breathing and bleeding from her mouth and anus. She suffered from severe trauma to her head resulting in permanent brain damage. After 48 hours, she gave everyone the big ray of hope that she would pull through!
Perry and Winkle: These sisters have truly suffered a nightmare. Their mother, a stray dog, had collapsed on the side of the street after she suffered a deep, lacerated wound to her mammary gland while being heavily pregnant and in labour. She was cut on her stomach with a sharp weapon to stop her from delivering her babies within a construction site. The poor dog was in unbearable pain when she underwent an emergency C-section and had eight healthy babies! The six males found their forever homes, but Perry and Winkle were left behind due to the stigma against adopting mixed Indian breed female puppies.
Thanks to the dedicated team at the Karma Foundation, these 4 babies have survived the worst phase of their lives.
