Raising a pet dog is a long-term commitment. The average lifespan of a canine is between 10-12 years, and they require extensive care throughout their lifetime. If you are not mentally, financially, and responsibly prepared to raise a pet dog for life then please do not get a pet home.
Lilly, a mixed Indian breed dog, was adopted four and a half years ago by a young man living in Bengaluru. He raised her with a lot of love and care. However, when his familial commitments grew, he encountered many unexpected changes – his wife and he are expecting a child, and his elderly mother was recently diagnosed with multiple health issues. Growing uncertainty and tension in the family caused the couple to move out of Bengaluru. They tried getting Lilly adopted through social media posts and their family & friends’ circles. Alas, no one stepped forth to take her home. So he reached out to VOSD to surrender her.
We offer sanctuary to dogs who have been through life-threatening situations or who cannot survive on their own and have nowhere else to go. If you have exhausted all avenues to re-home your pet dog, only then should you approach us to surrender the dog. You have to follow our dog surrender process to admit a dog at VOSD.
She is one of the sweetest girls we’ve seen – her overbite is adorable and those kind brown eyes express pure love and innocence. Though a bit hesitant at first to approach us, she inched closer and closer and eventually grew confident enough to jump upon us! She absolutely loves running around and going for walks but isn’t too comfortable interacting with other dogs. We’ll respect her comfort, and give her time before attempting to integrate her with our pack.
