What we witnessed recently was one of the most overwhelming moments in years of our rescue operations – a mother dog was paralysed and unable to move an inch, yet she was fighting hard to protect and feed her six puppies. It is unclear if she met with an accident or was beaten by someone, but she was recumbent when found on the streets.
The VOSD Pune team carefully shifted her into a vehicle and rushed to the Animal Rescue Trust (ART) NGO, Pune to get her treated. ART team kindly agreed to admit the pups too as they were too young to be left behind on the streets without the mother. Thankfully, x-rays revealed that she didn’t suffer from any fractures and she has sensation in her hind legs, which gives us hope that her temporary paralysis can be reversed soon. We have named this amazing mama dog ‘Veerya’ meaning bravery and energy. More power to her for a speedy recovery!
