On a rainy morning, after having a delicious hot meal, our adorable granny dog Bella found the perfect spot for a morning snooze. But the ground didn’t seem warm enough, so she dug a makeshift bed in the soil using her snout! Push some mud this way and some that way, nudge pokey stones out of the path and we’re all set.
Bella won our hearts the minute she stepped into the VOSD Sanctuary in 2020. The then 14-year-old had just survived the worst nightmare after getting both her eyes surgically removed because they had popped out of the socket. Detailed tests revealed that her eyes were damaged in the first place because some young children had used chemicals to burn her while she was sleeping on the road – JUST FOR FUN. During surgery, the Karma Foundation NGO who rescued and got her treated also found burnt tissue below her cornea; the skin around her eyes was also burnt.
Did Bella really deserve to endure this agony for some ruthless children’s entertainment?
Due to her age and loss of vision, Bella couldn’t survive on the streets and needed a safe home where all her needs would be met. The VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital provides the best care for senior special needs dogs like her in terms of food, shelter, veterinary support, and medical intervention.
We urge you to support the work we do so that we can remain a safe haven for cruelty survivor dogs like her.
Please donate INR 5,000 (~$68) one-time or monthly to cover the food & medical expenses of Bella and her friends:
