Blind, paralysed, deaf, all special needs dogs from different parts of India come home to VOSD.

VOSD – INDIA’S HOME FOR SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS RECENTLY ADDED FOUR CANINE MEMBERS TO ITS BIG, HAPPY FAMILY!

On average, the VOSD Hospital & Sanctuary admits a dog a day from across India. Most of these babies have special needs and require the best possible care, which we provide in our state-of-the-art facility. Over the past few weeks, a dog each from Pune, Hyderabad, Noida, and Chandigarh were transported to our sanctuary, where they will live for the rest of their lives.

Nemo – A college student from Chandigarh found a tiny puppy on the streets who seemed to have a broken paw. X-rays revealed that the bones in her front left paw were crushed, leaving her with only three properly functioning paws. After fostering and treating her for nearly seven months, the student tried everything to get Nemo adopted, but due to her physical disability, people denied giving her a forever home. She couldn’t be left back on the streets either, as she would always be at the risk of getting injured again. Hence, she was surrendered to VOSD.

Kaddu – A kind family rescued a stray puppy that had met with a car accident when he was one month old. They were able to help him recover from most of his injuries, but unfortunately, he lost his eyesight as the optic nerve got damaged in the accident. They decided to care for him as his survival on the street was impossible, but things took a turn for the worse. The blindness possibly aggravated behavioural changes in Kaddu – he bit the family on multiple occasions. They assumed that in a panic situation he couldn’t recognise his caregivers and bit them. They tried various steps to rectify this issue but to no avail. Due to his unpredictable behaviour, the family had to keep him tied which they knew wasn’t fair, so they requested VOSD to admit him.

Banku – An eleven-month-old stray dog who was born in the construction site in Hyderabad was dearly loved and cared for by one of the residents, and the security guards at the site. All was going well, when suddenly in November last year, the guards noticed Banku dragging his hind legs. His caretaker rushed him to a vet who suspected that he might have injured his spine in the construction site or a road accident perhaps. Despite months of treatment, Banku lost all strength in his hind legs along with bladder control. Since no shelter in the city was willing to adopt Banku, nor could he be left back in the construction site, he came to VOSD which is India’s best facility for dogs like him with special needs.

Rajeshwari – A stray dog who met with an accident in Pune lost her hearing, vision, and sense of smell partially. A group of friends who are dog lovers tried to help her to the best of their ability by getting her treated. However, such dogs require round-the-clock dedicated help, which they couldn’t find. When Rajeshwari’s rescuer heard of VOSD, he was convinced we are the right place to provide the best care for this sweet girl!

Each of these dogs has endured a traumatic and pain-filled past. Thanks to the kind humans who rescued and surrendered them to us, they can now be assured of a healthy, safe, and happy future at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital. Please help us meet the monthly upkeep expenses of these angels by donating INR 5,000 (~$68): https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses
