A tiny doggo was residing near one of Bengaluru’s busiest traffic signals. The lone kid, who didn’t belong to any pack or have a family, would run through the chaotic traffic to the other side in search of food. It was like being stuck between the devil and the deep sea – on one side, the vehicles would traumatise him, but if he didn’t cross the road every day, he would go hungry.
During one such frenzied hurtle across the signal, a vehicle hit the poor dog, shattering his hind leg femur bone. He was spotted by his feeder who took him to a veterinary hospital. Performing an invasive surgery on such a young dog was not advisable, so they gave him plenty of rest for his leg to heal. “He will always have a limp when he walks though,” said the doctors.
‘Biscuit’, as he was named, was not fit enough to survive on the streets anymore, nor are the chances of a deformed stray dog getting adopted high. With no other option, his rescuer requested VOSD to admit the adorable dog so he could lead a safe life with us.
The 8-month-old is so full of life and was quick to form a gang of friends upon reaching the sanctuary. His best pals are Zoey, the rickets survivor, and siblings Perry & Winkle rescued from Pune. They can spend hours running around the campus, chasing and playing with each other. We’re glad that Biscuit can finally set his worries aside of venturing in the traffic every day to fend for food – at VOSD, his meals are served fresh where he is!
The streets are extremely dangerous for dogs and even worse for puppies to survive on. If we put our minds to it, every family can adopt one such stray dog and prevent them from meeting with accidents or an even worse fate. If not, you can help the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital, which is home to hundreds of special needs dogs by sponsoring their food and medication. Please donate INR 5,000 (~$65) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/. Your contributions can help save a dog’s life!
