NEW DOG AT VOSD: PET DOG TWITTER WHO FAILED TO GET ADOPTED WHEN OWNERS MOVED FINDS A NEW HOME IN VOSD

A family who owned a five-year-old Spitz cross named Twitter recently surrendered him to us. They were relocating abroad and felt they couldn’t take him along due to personal exigency. Admitting him to VOSD was not their first option though – they tried getting the adorable pooch adopted through social media posts but when it went unanswered, we were both Twitter and his family’s only hope.

The primary reason we accepted him after following our standard surrender process is because the dog suffers from mental trauma such as separation anxiety, fear of loud noises like thunder, and so on. These are often neglected but can have devastating effects on a dog’s life if not addressed properly, at times even causing death. We are experts in diagnosing and managing separation anxiety, food aggression, fear etc using humane, compassionate methods of training. So Twitter is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital, under the able care of our founder Rakesh Shukla. Soon, he will be his confident and happy self, capable of leading a healthy and stable life in our sanctuary.

Dogs with various forms of behavioural and emotional issues are not the ideal candidates for adoption according to most people. This is the sad reality because everyone wants the “perfect” dog, no one’s willing to spend the time or resources to give them a second chance. At VOSD, no dog is ever turned away because of their temperament, age, breed, or physiological condition. We treat and love all of them as one and the same, and give them the much-deserved opportunity to turn a new leaf.

We are home to hundreds of such dogs who have no hope of getting adopted and cannot survive on the streets. To support their care and sponsor their monthly food & medical expenses, visit https://vosd.in/donation-for-dogs/ and donate INR 5,000 ($65) one-time or monthly.
