Leo the Labrador was his family’s pet since the age of 2 months. Now 11 years old, he began showing signs of bone & joint issues:
1. His mobility decreased due to severe hip dysplasia – he was unable to walk long distances and struggled to get up
2. Doctors found Leo also had small growths on his vertebrae – he was in immense pain due to this
Although the family had a lot of good memories with Leo they decided to surrender him to VOSD. His primary caretaker at home had relocated to another city for work, and the rest of the family was finding it difficult to manage with Leo.
We admitted him under the “Pet Dog” category after following the standard surrender process. Since we wanted to get a comprehensive idea to plan his medical treatment, Leo was examined by our expert panel of vets who diagnosed him with multiple issues. Apart from weak bones and joints, the poor dog also had kidney stones, and an enlarged prostate. He has been started on the VOSD Joint Care Supplement along with antibiotics, and renal tonics to help with his recovery.
Leo was fortunate to have a family who knew what was best for him; now he has us to provide him advanced professional veterinary treatment for the rest of his life.
Often, elderly pet dogs with health issues are mercilessly abandoned – they suffer and die on the streets due to lack of food, shelter, treatment, or heartbreak. You can help bring one such elderly pet dog into the safety of the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital by donating INR 5,000 (~$61) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/ Your contribution will go towards their medical and food bills, ensuring that they receive the best care during the last leg of their life.
