The VOSD Pune team focuses primarily on the sterilisation and vaccination of stray dogs in the city:
1. To reduce their suffering
2. Help control the spread of rabies
3. Minimise human-animal conflict
During these missions, we often encounter sick or injured street dogs that are in dire need of medical attention. Recently, we found a few streeties suffering from transmissible venereal tumors (TVT) that were cancerous. They were rescued and admitted by our team for intensive treatment.
VOSD sponsors the care of such dogs found with TVT during the spay/neuter operations. They are sterilised & treated for cancer, and released once they have recovered and are healthy.
