Amazing transformation of abandoned dog during lockdown

MEET A VOSD DOG: PET DOG ABANDONED DURING LOCKDOWN FINDS HER FOREVER HOME & FIRST LOVE IN OUR SANCTUARY!

The first nation-wide pandemic lockdown was not just tough on people, but on dogs too. A young mixed breed Indian pup was abandoned on the streets of Bengaluru in March 2020. A kind lady who spotted the pup enquired if she had run away from home or was lost, but she received no response. She decided to fostered ‘Maxine’ and get her spayed too. However, she was not in a position to take care of her long-term, as she already had a dog at home, who would try to attack Maxine.

She made multiple attempts to find the pup a suitable adopter but no one came forth since she was not a pure breed. VOSD agreed to admit her as part of the “free surrender of 100 dogs” program that was ongoing during the lockdown for dogs without a home or hope.

We were quick to identify that Maxine didn’t like being around men, probably due to past trauma or abuse. She only got along with two women caregivers and was comfortable being her goofy, silly self with them. She adjusted fabulously well with the other dogs though, especially Brandy the Labrador. He was surrendered to us around the same time as Maxine, and was an abandoned pet dog too. They fell in love at first sight and are inseparable!

This sweet girl enjoys her days by playing with her canine companions, eating yummy meals, and running in circles around her dog home. We hate to think that such an energetic, young girl was mercilessly abandoned and her life could’ve been hell if not for VOSD.

Through the “free surrender of 100 dogs” program, many other pet dogs like Maxine who were dumped on the streets found their forever home at a new family under our care. Providing for them comes at a steep cost – this includes food and medication, regular vet check-ups, accessories such as beds, food bowls, toys and so on.

If you out your heart to it, you can contribute directly for the welfare of our doggies and ensure they continue having a safe, healthy & happy life. Donate INR 5,000 (~$66) one-time or monthly to care for abandoned pet dogs: www.vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
