How to secure your pet dog’s future if something happens to you

WILL FOR PET DOGS: WHERE WILL YOUR POOCH GO IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOU?

Since the beginning of the pandemic lockdown in 2020, the world has been riddled with uncertainty. People are losing their jobs, housing, and worst of all their loved ones. In the midst of this chaos, pet dogs are almost always overlooked. To them, their family is their whole world. So in the eventuality of a pet parent passing away or falling terminally ill, what happens to these poor pooches?

Over the years, VOSD has admitted hundreds of such orphaned pet dogs. Some were lucky to have rescuers or caretakers protect them until they were surrendered to us, but a majority were kicked out of their homes after the demise of their owners. Abandoning a dog is not the solution, it is inhumane. As tragic as a loved one’s loss is for humans, it is more so for pets.

So VOSD strongly recommends that all dog owners write a WILL, which includes a CLAUSE TO SECURE THEIR DOG’S FUTURE. In case of the sole caretaker’s demise, either a trusted person can be chosen to adopt the dog, or instructions can be left for the dog to be surrendered to the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital.

Dog parents who wish to plan a happy future for their pooches may write to info@vosd.in to get free advice on making a will for your pets, or about VOSD’s surrender process.

NOTE: Surrendering a pet dog to us MUST always be the last option; we provide this facility only so that they aren’t abandoned.
