Senior Labrador with tumour abandoned mercilessly

NEW DOG AT VOSD: ABANDONED LABRADOR WITH CANCER COMES TO VOSD FOR GERIATRIC CARE

A senior Labrador approximately eight years old was tied on a short leash to the gate of veterinary hospital in Bengaluru. The owners had abandoned her possibly due to her old age and a mammary tumor she had developed. A family of dog lovers in the area happened to find her, and they knew she needed urgent medical care.

They wrote to VOSD to admit her, but the catch was that they couldn’t keep her for more than a few hours – they had four other pets at home and wanted to avoid accidents. VOSD does not have emergency dog rescue services, however, in exceptional situations we do support rescuers directly. So after the rescuers followed our surrender process and signed the agreement, we sent our ambulance to pick the dog up.

Once she reached the sanctuary, we had to get her health in order on priority. A vet check-up and blood test revealed that she urgently needed surgery to remove her large, cancerous mammary tumor. She will have her operation soon so please pray for Paneer’s speedy recovery – she needs all the love she can get!

Old age or health issues are NOT excuses for pet owners to abandon their dogs. This is an inhumane and shameful act.

Hundreds of such elderly and infirm canines who were thrown out of their homes found safety, care, and medical attention at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital. If not for us, these dogs would have suffered on the streets and died a painful, lonely death. We urge you to help us cover the monthly food & medical expenses of geriatric pooches by donating INR 5,000 (~$65) today: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
