VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
Khushi recently gave birth to a litter of five pups. Unfortunately, soon after childbirth the lactating mother developed an extremely large uterine prolapse. Unable to handle the excruciating pain, the poor dog whimpered and cried all day; luckily the neighbours noticed her plight and approached the Sinhgad Animal Welfare Charitable Trust (SAW) team for help.
Our team reached the spot immediately and found the dog and pups lying unattended under a staircase. The dogs were terrified of all the commotion, so our team slowly rescued the mother dog first. Then one-by-one all the pups were also gently moved to the ambulance.
A little while later, our team took Khushi for a basic medical check-up. She was extremely malnourished and, in all likelihood, wouldn’t have survived on the streets for long. In the coming days, vets will chalk out a treatment plan for Khushi’s prolapse, after a thorough examination.
Meanwhile, Khushi and her babies have been shifted to a boarding shelter. She is getting regular meals and her pups are well looked after as well. She has also been put on pain reliever and is feeling much more comfortable now.
To support Khushi’s medical care and to help more dogs like her, please leave a gift today. Every dog deserves medical care and proper nutrition, and your gift goes such a long way in ensuring both.
