VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such senior stray dog, Abhay, was having much difficulty standing up and looked extremely disoriented. The poor old dog had an unsteady gait and was too weak to even be able to walk properly. His caretaker informed our team, and we rushed to the location and rescued Abhay.
Abhay was admitted to Animal Rescue trust (ART) NGO, Pune, where it was found that he was running a temperature of 106 degree. His treatment was started immediately and cold compresses were used to bring his fever down. Doctors informed that Abhay had suffered a massive heat stroke. Luckily all his other blood reports were clean.
A week down the line, Abhay is doing better; he gets fluids intravenously daily and has also started eating his meals. He has been started on supplements for overall health improvement. Abhay is expected to make complete recovery soon after which he will be reunited with his caretakers back home.
All of India is reeling under the effects of extreme heat, our stray animals are suffering greatly because of it. Let us do our bit and make arrangements for water bowls in and around our localities so that our animal counterparts can stay hydrated.
