Paralysed dog starts walking again after months of care at VOSD

MEET A VOSD DOG: STRAY DOG WITH PARALYSED HIND LEGS WALKS AGAIN AT VOSD

Saaya was spotted dragging herself on her hindlegs by Team VOSD on one of their vet visits last year in August; she was rescued immediately. An extensive medical examination ensued which revealed that both her femur bones had been fractured a month back – most probably in a road accident. She had also suffered a spinal fracture and would have to undergo major corrective surgeries.

After three months of advanced medical treatment and intensive post-op care Saaya made a miraculous recovery. She made our day one day by standing on all fours… and then she walked again… today she has got all her strength and confidence back; she runs and she asserts dominance like her namesake Saya, the majestic leopard from Kabini. Just like a wild cat, she is fearless and will even threaten dogs thrice her size.

The determination and grit she showed in pulling off such a miraculous recovery is a lesson for all of us that no matter how hard life knocks you down, you can get back up. The only downside is that she is still terrified of humans and will not let anyone touch or play with her. She’s wary of dogs too – so she mostly spends time roaming around the sanctuary or sleeping under a badam tree. We really hope she will open up one day and let us pet her!

Help us provide support to more road-accident victims like Saaya. Please consider a gift of INR 5,000 (~$62) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
