VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with Sinhgad Animal Welfare Charitable Trust (SAW) and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog fell inside a swimming pool that had been closed to the public for the last several months due to an accidental death. We received a call on our helpline number through which we were apprised of the occurrence, and soon after, we rushed to the location. We knew we had our work cut out for us because the standing water was full of algae and thick plants, and it was already dark when we reached the spot.
After a long arduous search, we were able to see the dog in the corner of the pool. A team member was lowered inside the water to rescue the dog, but the pooch got scared and changed his spot.
We began the search all over again and after a rigorous hunt, in the dark, were able to locate him again. Finally, we caught hold of the dog and pulled him outside the marshy pool. He shook himself dry and sprinted off to his territory.
