VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such cute puppy, Pearl, was spotted by our team on a sterilisation drive in Warje; the little dog was dragging herself and had a deep wound on her rear side. According to the locals, Pearl’s hindlegs were paralysed since birth but looks like no one bothered about the poor puppy crying. Our team immediately rescued the poor skinny puppy and got her admitted to the Animal Rescue Trust NGO, Pune.
Copious amounts of yellow pus, mixed with blood, were oozing out of her wound. Doctors promptly cleaned and dressed her wound. She was also put on relevant medicines and was being served a nutritious diet. However, the wound was severely infected which ultimately resulted in the gentle dog’s demise.
Pearl died a painful death because she got the much-needed medical attention much too late. Please don’t ignore injured dogs on the streets – contact the nearest vet hospital or an NGO and try to help them. Without our intervention, these babies will continue to die painful, lonely and horrible deaths; so, let us pledge to assist the sick and suffering stray dogs as best as we can.
