Rottweiler prone to Epileptic attacks surrendered to VOSD.

DOGS OF VOSD: ROXY, ROTTWEILER PRONE TO EPILEPTIC ATTACKS SURRENDERED TO VOSD.

The tragic craze of owning a “purebred” dog is what ruined this poor Rottweiler’s life. In our country, many people keep pedigree dogs as status symbols with hardly any understanding of dog breed or behaviour. Many such people end up getting bitten by dogs or are unable to take proper care of the dog leading to serious health issues for those dogs.

Roxy was purchased by a man out of his greed to raise a pedigree Rottweiler, much against his wife’s wishes. Personal crisis befell upon the family, especially during the pandemic. The worst of all was that Roxy was prone to epileptic attacks, after which he would howl and cry for days due to muscle and body pain but they couldn’t take care of the dog. The prescribed medication for his condition wasn’t helping. So, it was requested that Roxy be surrendered to the VOSD Sanctuary and Hospital.

VOSD is India’s best home for dogs with special needs, so we were more than happy to admit this gentle giant.

He’s twice the size of an average Rottie, and towers over our girl Whiskey who has been with us for over three years! He’s calm, obedient, well-behaved and social with people and pooches of all sizes. In fact, his head is bigger than Diya the pug’s entire body, but it’s adorable how the duo snuggles during bedtime. Roxy is dearly loved at VOSD. He has full-time caregivers to take care of his food and medicines and provide him human companionship and love.

For years, we have cared for dogs of various breeds with different health conditions. We’re equipped with world-class facilities to care for canines with seizures or any other genetic health condition, so they can lead a healthy and safe life under our care. VOSD is home to many dogs with blindness, neurological issues, paralysis, spinal injuries, and mobility issues. We admit dogs that are at risk of euthanasia in shelters as well as pets that can’t be managed by people. Each of our special needs dogs are provided with any recommended diagnostics ( X-Rays, blood work, etc.) and surgical treatments. The dogs are then rehabilitated with a customised program consisting of hydrotherapy, acupressure, and/or physical therapy as may be required.

With your support and kind donations, we will always be able to keep our doors open for special needs dogs like Roxy. Please support his lifelong care at VOSD with a monthly or one-time gift of INR 5,000 https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/dog-shelter/
