VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog, Raja, was spotted by a SAW rescue team member 60 km from Pune, at Bhor village in Maharashtra, with a massive maggot-infested ear wound. The poor dog was walking with a head tilt and pus was oozing out of his ear, which was causing him a lot of pain. His caretaker was very worried about him but didn’t know how to help him. Hence, our team reached the spot immediately and rescued Raja.
Raja was admitted to Animal Rescue Trust (ART) NGO, Pune shelter and his treatment began promptly. Maggots were removed from his wound and the site was cleaned and dressed. He has been put on a course of relevant antibiotics and painkillers. He has his ear canal cleaned regularly, gets regular nutritious meals and plenty of rest.
Raja’s ear wound is much better now and soon he will be able to lead a pain and infection-free life. Upon complete recovery, he will be reunited with his caretakers and friends in his village.
