VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog, Shambhu, had been walking with a limp for many days. A shop owner fed him and kept him safe but didn’t know how to get him medical help; so, Shambu’s condition continued to deteriorate. Finally, a senior rescuer learned about Shambhu’s case and contacted us. Our team reached the location and immediately rescued Shambhu.
Shambu was admitted to Animal Rescue Trust NGO, Pune. The doctors at the facility diagnosed Shambhu with bone cancer. They decided to amputate his leg but unfortunately, Shambhu passed away during the amputation surgery.
Shambu died a painful death because he got the much-needed medical attention much too late. If you come across limping dogs, please contact the nearest veterinary hospital or an NGO and try to help them. Without our intervention, these babies will continue to die painful, lonely and horrible deaths; so, let us pledge to assist the sick and suffering stray dogs as best as we can.
