VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog, Jimmy, had a deep maggot-infested wound in his ear. Jimmy used to go underground for long periods because of the intense pain so it was very difficult to locate him; it was days before his reporter could catch and keep him inside a room. Once Jimmy had been secured inside a room, our team reached the location and rescued him.
Jimmy was admitted to the Stray Animal Welfare Organisation (SAWO). First of all, the doctors removed all maggots from Jimmy’s ear wound. Then they dressed and cleaned the wound properly.
Jimmy was also put on relevant medication, got regular nutritious meals and was afforded plenty of rest to recover. Topical medicines were also applied on his wound to aid healing. Soon, Jimmy recovered completely and was released back to his location. He looks forward to leading a pain-free and happy life.
