Hooman! Hey! You!
Now that I have your attention, listen to my story…
I am Pista the puppy; I was wandering outside a housing complex in Pune so a few people began caring for me. After a while though, I was suddenly chased away by the very same people who fed me because I had developed a skin infection. Maybe they thought I had a deadly disease that would harm them, maybe they thought I was disgusting. It broke my heart that I was back to being unwell and hungry.
A kind lady who loves dogs decided to foster me, and she took me to the doctor who treated me for scabies (a type of skin infection) and high fever which I had at that point. They also helped get rid of those creepy crawly ticks, fleas, and tummy worms. For the next few days I got pampered silly by my foster mom who didn’t seem to mind if I ran all around the house looking for things to play with. She told everyone how cute I was and how it great it would be to adopt me as a pet but no one seemed to care.
I was a mixed breed puppy who was recovering from malnutrition and a skin issue. That’s why no one wanted me. Didn’t they realise I was just as playful, loyal, and kind as a ‘normal pedigree’ puppy?
Since I had nowhere to go, I was surrendered to VOSD. I now have a personal caregiver who entertains me all day long – it turns out he likes playing as much as I do! He feeds me delicious nourishing meals, and monitors me round the clock to ensure my skin infection doesn’t relapse. I might not have gotten such good care even in someone’s home, so I’m so glad that the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital had space for me.
I learnt that our organisation not only has stray doggos like me, but many others who suffered abuse, abandonment, are very old, or handicapped to survive on the streets. We all have a name, a home, good food and great care at VOSD. Please help our hoomans continue to protect and nurture us by donating INR 5,000 (~$65) for our food & medical expenses: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
