Why do Indian mixed breed dogs suffer such discrimination?

NEW DOG AT VOSD: LOVING DOG REJECTED FOR HER BREED FINDS FOREVER HOME AT VOSD

While we proudly announce to the world that we are Indians and are no less than anyone else, our own Indian mixed breed dogs suffer horrible discrimination.

Kookie, a tiny pup, was rescued by a kind lady and her daughter from a pack of stray dogs who were attacking her. The mother-daughter duo not only saved the poor puppy but also decided to foster her while until they get her adopted. For seven months, they relentlessly tried reaching out to potential adopters for Kookie but they were all disappointed knowing that Kookie is an Indian mixed breed dog and not a pedigree dog.

Seeing such shallow mindset and unwillingness to adopt a lovely dog for many months then, the lady lost hope and eventually reached out to VOSD to surrender her for a truly happy forever home.

Ever since Kookie has reached the VOSD Sanctuary, she’s just super excited! Full of energy, she is running around and greeting her caregivers and playing with them – oof! She’s a storm – but a beautiful, loving storm. And we can’t be happier that a dog who could have given so much love to any family finally has a place to call home and people to call family.

VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital is home to hundreds of dogs who can’t survive on the streets and whom no one comes forward to adopt. Where will such dogs go if they didn’t have VOSD? We accept such dogs under our Pet/Stray dog surrender category and provide them a permanent, safe, and loving home at the VOSD Sanctuary and Hospital.
