A senior lady in Bengaluru adopted a mixed breed Indian dog and cared for him for 11 years. However, since the seventy-year-old began suffering from multiple health issues, she was no longer able to look after Tiger. Her family members could not adopt or provide for him either, hence she surrendered him to VOSD.
Surrendering an old pet dog to us should be your last resort – please consider and explore all other options of re-homing or adoption before making a surrender request to us.
Probably the fear of being in a new place or being separated from his family, Tiger was hesitant to open up to his caregivers when he reached our sanctuary. Our staff took turns socialising with him for a few hours every day. Within a week, he was running and playing with his other doggie friends and caregivers at the in-house dog parks in VOSD!
We strive to provide the same or better comfort and care for our babies as they got with their families at home. Senior dogs are accommodated in well-designed spaces with soft, waterproof beds, heating lamps, protective rain blinds, and so on, for their safety and health. They are also provided with round-the-clock palliative care if they suffer from any ailments.
Tiger, fortunately, is very healthy and active for his age; he enjoys all his meals and exercise sessions.
We need your help to care for hundreds of senior stray or pet dogs who are living out their last years at VOSD. Would you be kind enough to donate INR 5,000 (~$68) one time or monthly towards the recurring food and medical expenses of our babies? They rely on your generosity and support: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses
