MEET A VOSD DOG: ABUSED PITBULL PACHO FINALLY FOUND TRUST & LOVE AT VOSD
www.vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/

A dog who has bitten many people
An abused pitbull who was re-homed five times due to his behaviour
A helpless soul who was a “lost cause” and had no hope of finding a home

That’s Pacho for you in a nutshell. Read his story here: https://bit.ly/3i6LHYY

But at the VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital, we know a very different side to this pooch. We know him as “that over-excited buffoon” who sticks out his kilometre-long tongue to endlessly kiss his favourite hooman! We know him as the dog whose smile can instantly light up your day. We know him as a giant, playful, and affable puppy. That’s the magic of VOSD.

When we first heard that we were going to be parents to an abused and fearful pitbull who was probably used as bait in illegal dog fighting rings and after rescue couldn’t get adopted due to biting incidents, words couldn’t explain how heartbroken we were. The number of red flags that were raised in just the one term “bait dog” shook us to our core. What kind of suffering would this innocent child have gone through? Even if the scars and bites on his body healed, would his emotional pain ever heal?

We promised to provide Pacho all the love, trust, affection and care he needed to overcome his past. The first step was not to be afraid of him, but build a strong bond based on mutual trust. One of our dog handlers spent hours with him every day, being that gentle yet disciplined father figure Pacho never had. He showed him what it was like to believe once again. They went on long walks, ran by each other’s side, had training session to ease his triggers & aggression, and bonded over grooming activities. Over time, Pacho has learnt to give and receive love again; he has learnt to trust again.

FEAR IS ONE OF THE COMMON REASONS WHY DOGS TURN AGGRESSIVE. Give them a reason to feel safe and loved, and they will turn a new leaf.
