Darling girl Kuttush came to us a couple of years ago after being discarded on the streets like a used and broken toy. Obviously, the cruel people who left her there thought she would die but little did they know the determination this tiny pug had in her to overcome her myriad health issues!

She was admitted to VOSD for palliative care, and lived a happy and content life with us. Her favourite snooze spot was under VOSD founder Rakesh Shukla’s chair, or near his pillow at night. She never left his side, neither did he hers.
Kuttush was special; she had poor vision, heart-related complications, degenerating kidneys, and a chronic oral infection that had damaged most of her teeth. Her diet and nutrition including medicines and supplements were curated with care to help her overcome/manage her health issues. So she was subject to blood tests, vet visits, check-ups and other tests every few months. Not once did we see her sulk or fuss about being poked and prodded for her treatments. She sat through it all with an adorable smile – tongue hanging out on one side in between her missing teeth.
For the years she was with us, she taught us the importance of resilience and being strong. However, she breathed her last recently when she couldn’t overcome renal failure. It was the only battle she lost. Her spot under Rakesh’s chair is still empty; the corner she carved for herself in all our hearts can’t be filled. We miss her terribly but are thankful she isn’t in pain anymore.
