As a visually impaired stray dog, Maya was doomed to live the life of intense struggle on the streets; until the day the poor dog caught the attention of a kind feeder, who decided to help her. The rescuer took Maya to a vet where, after a thorough examination, it was decided to surgically remove Maya’s eyes to thwart a potentially deadly infection.
The operation was successful, but Maya couldn’t be left on the streets anymore. No one came forward to adopt the blind Indie dog either. As a last resort, the rescuer approached the VOSD helpdesk and surrendered Maya to VOSD under the ‘Blind Stray’ category.
Maya came into her own on VOSD grounds. The curious dog explored every nook and cranny and quite enjoyed that experience. She fit right in with her enclosure mates who are all special-needs dogs like her. She even met an old friend from the hood, Soya. Both blind girls live together now and are family for life. They have the rest of us as well; to love and to cherish and to rely on.
Destiny intervened and Blind girl Maya doesn’t have to suffer the indignities and dangers of the streets, but there are several others like her that still need rescuing. Help us bring them home to VOSD, by giving a gift of INR 5,000 (~$62) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
