In 2020, a culpable homicide case shook Bengaluru city. The apartment where the crime occurred had yet another SHOCKING SECRET hidden within its walls. The family consisting of a father and his minor children had adopted three mixed breed Indian dogs. They were raised in horrible living conditions – the dogs hadn’t stepped out for a walk or to relieve themselves even on a single day.

When an animal rescue team entered the home to save the poor canines after the incident, they were appalled to see the floors covered in the dogs’ urine and excreta. It didn’t appear as though they had been fed well either, since the trio looked malnourished. What’s worse, they were scared and disoriented which led to behavioural issues such as the biggest of the three canines constantly attacking his siblings.

When the dogs were rescued and surrendered to VOSD, they were extremely apprehensive of new people, so they would try to attack us out of fear. We separated the pack for to avoid fights or accidents, and began working on rehabilitation and behaviour correction. The smaller ones opened up first, and were soon comfortable enough to cuddle with people. But the big boy Mumu took weeks of training, and positive interactions with the team to reform his ways.

Today, he is just as much a sweetheart as his brother Momo & sister Meme. They suffered enough, and for the past two years have led blissful and happy lives. VOSD helped these nervous biters transform into playful and friendly babies!

With years of experience, we have realised that there’s nothing such as a “bad dog”; no dog is ever so aggressive or ill-mannered that they need to be put down. Patience and consistent effort can help them become the most loving companions over time. VOSD is and will always remain a sanctuary for cruelty survivor dogs who have faced abuse, and under our care they will get the chance to turn their lives around for the better.

Please help us be a safe haven for cruelty survivors like Momo, Mumu and Meme by donating INR 5,000 (~$68) one-time or monthly https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/ towards the food & medical care of these sweet babies.
