NEW DOG AT VOSD: OLD STRAY DOG LIVING IN DANGER FINDS SAFETY AT VOSD SANCTUARY

Jimmy has a cool name but his life on the streets was far from breezy. The old stray dog got into multiple accidents throughout his life, lost his hearing, lost bladder control, got a near-permanent wound on his leg that rendered walking very difficult; and towards the end, due to impaired hearing, collided with moving vehicles three times within one week, suffering grievous injuries on every occasion.

Jimmy’s caretakers got very concerned after the sudden spate of accidents and started looking for a shelter home for the old guy. They learned about VOSD hospice – India’s largest retirement home for senior dogs – and immediately requested us to accommodate Jimmy.

And so, Jimmy was surrendered to us under the ‘ Hospice’ category without any surrender fee. Jimmy came with a lot of ticks, he had multiple open wounds on his legs and also continence because of which his urine dripped continuously. To remedy all these conditions; we gave him a tick-control tablet, cleaned and dressed his wounds, ran a course of antibiotics on him; and he’s also been put on lifelong medication for his renal issues. The old pooch is regularly bathed with VOSD’s tick and flea shampoo (shop.vosd.in).

Since Jimmy has lost bladder control, our team makes it a point to keep him clean and dry at all times. He has also been put on a special diet to help him improve his overall health.

Jimmy is a very calm and gentle dog. He keeps to himself mostly but is very friendly with humans. At VOSD he is getting nutritious meals, medical help and a safe environment. Speeding vehicles do not come to disturb his afternoon slumber anymore and he can now spend the rest of his days quietly, just the way he likes it.

Hundreds of dogs like Jimmy, for whom the streets are a death sentence, find a safe haven at VOSD where they are loved and looked after for life. Help VOSD provide a home to other old deaf dogs who are too vulnerable to survive in the outside world. Please consider a gift of INR 5,000 (~$61) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/ so we can help the voiceless.
