Hello! I am Roy. I am a stray dog who had met with a terrible accident in Oct last year. My best friend and I got electrocuted on a rainy day when we were trying to seek shelter near a transformer. She died on the spot but I got thrown far away due to the electric shock and was badly injured. My vision got blurred and I was helpless. That’s when VOSD Pune team members rescued me, took me to a vet hospital, and then moved me to a pet boarding for continuing the treatment as I was not in a condition to survive on the streets.
Over the last few months, I got medical care and a safe home to stay in while I recovered from my injuries. My eyesight is almost normal now and my wounds have healed. I was released back to my location today. I was so happy to see my caretaker waiting for me!

Please note: All stray dogs cannot be adopted as there aren’t enough homes willing to take them in. Keeping healthy stray dogs in shelters or boarding for life is not an economically sustainable solution. So once our rescued stray dogs are healthy we release them back to their original locations. Luckily some stray dogs in Pune have one or more people who feed them and take care of small medical issues as their caretakers/feeders without actually adopting them or taking them home. The kindness of such people allows us to catch these stray dogs for their spay/neuter operations and yearly anti-rabies vaccinations.
