VOSD+SAW Rescue brings together an expert team and 2 ambulances to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs in Pune. We are collaborating with SAW and other NGOs in Pune city to save the lives of stray dogs who have met with accidents or are ill.
One such stray dog Malti, who lived in a parking lot suffered a grievous injury on her leg. The poor dog’s paw broke completely and just dangled loosely; and she wasn’t able to use that leg at all. The bus drivers grew increasingly concerned about her deteriorating condition, so they approached our team. We reached the spot and rescued Malti immediately.
She was admitted to the Animal Rescue Trust NGO, Pune, where doctors first removed the old bandage wrapped around her wound and thoroughly cleaned the affected area. She was put on relevant antibiotics and pain medication; ultimately the doctors had to make the tough decision of amputating her leg.
In the coming days, Malti’s amputation surgery was conducted successfully, she is presently recuperating at the facility and will be released to her location when she is completely healed. Meanwhile, the sweet girl is getting nutritious meals, medicines and plenty of rest.
