In November 2022, a passerby spotted a stray dog in Bengaluru with a badly injured eye that had popped out. He rushed the dog to a veterinary hospital where doctors suspected he had hurt his eye a few weeks ago but had constantly scratched it causing further damage and blindness. He was started on a course of antibiotics but was too weak and malnourished for surgery. Since he couldn’t be boarded at the hospital or be left back on the streets, ‘Jack’ was surrendered to VOSD.

Based on a consultation with our team of expert vets, we continued Jack on his antibiotics and put him on a nutritious weight-gaining diet. After a series of blood tests confirming he was healthy enough over the next couple of months, finally in January he got an enucleation (removal of the eye) done. Within 15 days Jack recovered successfully and the sutures at the site of surgery were removed. He will no longer be prone to injuries or infection and can lead a healthy and happy life.
